Bird Inspired Painted Fairy Wings and More

There will be a ready-to-ship flash sale this Friday, May 9 at 7pm PDT!

Brightly colored iridescent fairy wings in oranges, yellows, teals and blues with black veins, antennae along the top, worn on a dress form. Front view

I thought I’d give the warm orangey colors some love after focusing on the purple / green / blue spectrum for a while.
The Datura wings painted in the Bee Eater colorway are inspired by the bee eater bird's feathers! If you’re a bird lover, you can read more info about them here. Last photo shown is by Pierre Dalous, via Creative Commons.
I originally made them in an extra large size with gold veins for a client a few years ago, and thought I'd make another set in the standard large size. They aren't the colors I usually gravitate to but I think they're pretty eye-catching. They will be $490.

The second set shown are a set of Fauna wings with Guinevere bottom panels in Rose Gold with white veins. I converted the Gwen panels by cutting off the 'legs' that the old style of my wings had and drilled holes in the base so they could be made into the convertible style.
My drilling was a bit off though, so although they will still look like this, you'll want to use the middle and bottom hole instead of the top and bottom ones for the static assembly and of course as always you can cover the hardware with faux flowers. They will be $279.

These Fayette wings (above) in Opal with gold veins will also be available, in the simplified version without the additional intricate vinyl vein layer to make them more affordable at $349 rather than the typical price of roughly $600 for those extra veins. These have some very minimal irregularities in the vein color so I’ve reduced the price slightly further, though I don’t even know if you’d be able to notice.

Finally we have the Titania fairy wings in clear Diamond Fire with white veins (above) which will be $195.

I was going to try to squeeze in another set of wings but I may not make it in time. If that’s the case I’ll probably have another small drop next week.

As usual, the wing listings won't show up until the start time Friday, at this link:

New Fairy Wings and the Return of a Classic

I'm having a very small ready-to-ship fairy wing sale Sunday night, Feb. 9 at 8pm PST and these painted Aynia fairy wings in the Water Lily colorway with copper veins will be available for $490. I used the clear Opal film this time instead of the Diamond Fire, which accentuates all the blue tones.

I'll also have a set of Titania wings in clear Opal with black veins for $195 (as seen below), and a repeat set of Ellette wings in clear Diamond Fire with black veins for $218.

And finally, the Kira design is returning, painted in the same colorway that was used for the set that Eniko Mihalik wore in the '14 VS Fashion Show - these will be a much more wearable standard large size though, same as they were before.

Here's Eniko in the gigantic ones in a photo by Paul Bayfield:

I'm going to try making these without the additional 3rd layer of clear vinyl on top of the print so I can make the price a bit more affordable, since this colorway isn't too saturated with ink. I'll offer them for $329 plus shipping. The Aynia Water Lily wings DO have that extra vinyl layer though as there's a lot more ink there.

I'm relieved to be getting back to human sized wing making, but don't worry, I will eventually make more wing jewelry & other items.

The link to the Flash Sale page is https://fancy-fairy-wings-things.myshopify.com/collections/flash-sales and hey, there's still a few jewelry items left from the previous sale, all ready to ship!

Ready to Ship Fairy Wings Flash Sale Monday May 6 at 8pm PDT!

This is a teeny tiny wing sale, with two sets of painted wings, ready to ship.
This set of painted Colette wings in pink and black, laminated onto the Blush film, will be one of them.

The other set will be the Pansy wings painted in the Water Lily colorway but this time, with gold veining. I really do love the gold veins with this palette!
And again, I’ve reverted back to the original gold powder coating on the veins because as lovely as the candy coat gold looked, the coverage was inconsistent and that coating cost me double. The other metallic gold that I changed to in order to match a gold vinyl better for the Pixish wings ended up not matching it as well as this gold does once the vinyl is actually applied to the iridescent film.

And that’s that!
Remember, the listings won’t show up until Monday, May 6 at 8pm Pacific Daylight Time.

For the Pumpkin Spice Fans!

'Pumpkin Spice' is what I'm naming this colorway, inspired by Buckeye and Peacock butterfly patterns, painted on my Pansy wing design.

I had a sudden inspiration to finally paint my version of those butterflies on Saturday and found myself painting for quite a few hours until I had the look I wanted.

These will be listing in tomorrow night's ready-to-ship flash sale at 8pm Pacific along with the painted Fayette wings in my last News post, and a couple others. I’ll either update this or make a new blog post letting you know what the other wings will be.

They will be $489, marked down slightly from the usual $500 for painted wings because I've finally found vinyl material I can print at home again which saves me driving time. However, it takes more time printing them myself due to having to babysit the pages as they print and also having to lay them out on my table to fully cure before laminating. They also now all have an additional clear layer of vinyl protecting the ink surface before the final lamination with the frames, so painted wings have 3 clear vinyl layers versus the 1 layer that single color iridescent wings have which makes them more durable. So you're getting an even more durable set of wings for slightly less than before.
Same goes for the Fayette wings I already shared, I forgot to mention this change. As always, these are digitally hand painted by me using a stylus in Photoshop and / or Painter.

Although they are more durable and are still very water resistant as well, I still can't promise they will hold up under water for a whole underwater shoot as well as the single color wings and have not had a chance to test this new brand of printable vinyl in water. You're of course welcome to test this yourself, but I can't be held liable if the ink layer gets damaged.

Again, the ready-to-ship wing sale is tomorrow, October 3 at 8pm Pacific Daylight Time at this link: https://fancy-fairy-wings-things.myshopify.com/collections/flash-sales

Remember to be ready at the start time as wings sometimes sell out quickly. They won’t be visible until the start time for the sale.
