Bird Inspired Painted Fairy Wings and More

There will be a ready-to-ship flash sale this Friday, May 9 at 7pm PDT!

Brightly colored iridescent fairy wings in oranges, yellows, teals and blues with black veins, antennae along the top, worn on a dress form. Front view

I thought I’d give the warm orangey colors some love after focusing on the purple / green / blue spectrum for a while.
The Datura wings painted in the Bee Eater colorway are inspired by the bee eater bird's feathers! If you’re a bird lover, you can read more info about them here. Last photo shown is by Pierre Dalous, via Creative Commons.
I originally made them in an extra large size with gold veins for a client a few years ago, and thought I'd make another set in the standard large size. They aren't the colors I usually gravitate to but I think they're pretty eye-catching. They will be $490.

The second set shown are a set of Fauna wings with Guinevere bottom panels in Rose Gold with white veins. I converted the Gwen panels by cutting off the 'legs' that the old style of my wings had and drilled holes in the base so they could be made into the convertible style.
My drilling was a bit off though, so although they will still look like this, you'll want to use the middle and bottom hole instead of the top and bottom ones for the static assembly and of course as always you can cover the hardware with faux flowers. They will be $279.

Large transparent blue/green dragonfly-like iridescent fairy wings with white veins have 3 elongated panels on each side, worn on a dress form, front view

These Fayette wings (above) in Opal with gold veins will also be available, in the simplified version without the additional intricate vinyl vein layer to make them more affordable at $349 rather than the typical price of roughly $600 for those extra veins. These have some very minimal irregularities in the vein color so I’ve reduced the price slightly further, though I don’t even know if you’d be able to notice.

Finally we have the Titania fairy wings in clear Diamond Fire with white veins (above) which will be $195.

I was going to try to squeeze in another set of wings but I may not make it in time. If that’s the case I’ll probably have another small drop next week.

As usual, the wing listings won't show up until the start time Friday, at this link:

Ready To Ship Wings Sale Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 8pm PDT

This wicked set of Fayette wings will be featured in this ready to ship drop Tues. at 8pm Pacific! I’m naming this colorway ‘Poison Plum’.

It's going to be hard to give these up, not gonna lie. I'm a bit in love with these colors. After I finished them I thought they seemed to have a similar color palette to the sea witch Ursula and almost named them as such, but am going with 'Poison Plum' instead. I think they’d go great with a ‘bad fairy’ or goth look as much as they’d work with a purple flower fairy of some sort. They will be $590, and are the largest wings that work in the flapping mechanisms I sell.
Do you want to see more wings with these colors in the future? If not, what other combos are you looking for?

I was originally going to try to have a sale this weekend, but due to technical difficulties and other snags I'm going to have it Tuesday night, Oct. 3 at 8pm Pacific Time instead.

I'll post more updates here as I finish other wings so watch this space over the next couple days, and there will be a couple repeat colorways as well. There will be at least one pumpkin spice fairy theme ;)
These will all be ready to ship!
They’ll be listed on my Flash Sales page here: https://fancy-fairy-wings-things.myshopify.com/collections/flash-sales

Remember to be ready at the start time as wings sometimes sell out quickly.

Ch-ch-ch-changes to the Fairy Wing Shop

Well fairies, I’ve been missing a big glitch on product pages!

Well! I didn't realize for a while that the Add to Cart button was glitching out in my Shopify store! I noticed this week that it disappeared whenever you go to a product page & wouldn't pop back up again until 6 or 7 full seconds, which may have led people to assume they were sold if they scrolled all the way down the description to see if maybe it was at the bottom and probably leaving the page after. *forehead slap*
I'd contacted customer support and was told that my site theme was too old & needed to be replaced with a newer one for the button to work as it should, and, for the payment installments notice to also be visible.
Here I was, all this time thinking that was being made available to everyone since I did activate installment payments roughly a year ago - but when I noticed the cart button issue I noticed the installments banners & notices were also not there.
Fairies, it has now been fixed. Please, if you notice any weird bugs in the future I'd love to be informed so I can address it faster.
I would like to clean the home page up further, and I will, but for now at least things are working as they should.

There are still 2 made-to-order wings left, the Cosettes - like the ones in the photo above - and the extra large Ellette wings which have been heavily discounted from the previous price of $675 down to $600.
The ready-to-ship Cosette wings have also been discounted from $595 to $559 to make up for the glitchiness.
You can browse and purchase them here: https://fancy-fairy-wings-things.myshopify.com/collections/flash-sales

I will have another set of gold veined Cosette wings in my next ready-to-ship sale if the ones currently listed don't sell in the next couple days & I pull the listing. I already have the vinyl vein layer cut & weeded so they need to be made.
I'm thinking I might go with a warm color this time as we head into fall weather, like either the Blush, Poison Apple, or Rose Gold. The Poison Apple would give a nice contrast to the gold veining.
Or should I go for something like Dark Crystal film? What do you think?

Made-To-Order Fairy Wings Flash Sale Tonight at 8pm PST!

It will be small, but I’ll have just a few sets of made-to-order wings listing tonight, Feb. 8 at 8pm PST.
If you missed the Ivy wings, those are back in this batch.

Top photo is Ivy, the bottom row from left to right is Colette, Datura, and Pansy.

In this batch, you'll be able to choose the vein color as well as the film color, however the Colette veins can only be done in either black, white or silver at this time.
Frames are being cut now, but still need powder coating and all the rest. I also am waiting for this batch to complete a few new extra large wings for a theatre production, which will include extra large sizes of the Ellette, Aynia, Aquatica, which I haven't made in the XL size before.
So expect to see those offered before long and note that the orders from this sale will need a couple months for production, possibly longer if you choose a vein color I won’t be having coated for a while.

Remember that the new listings won’t show up until the start time at 8pm Pacific Standard Time.

I'm also going to be listing the faux opal fairy wing jewelry soon!
I don't have the date and time set yet, hoping to finish them today and do photos but the plan is to have them listed before the end of the week. I posted a short Reel video on Instagram here:
https://www.instagram.com/reel/CZXsnd5BnrA/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

I’ll be posting some behind the scenes of the process of making the faux opal for the wing jewelry on Patreon in the near future, with the $4 and up tiers getting a more in depth look with some tips. It may not be a full tutorial, but I’ll be pointing you to the existing ones I referenced as well as some of the key materials that made it look so much better than my first attempts.
