Adventures and Setbacks In Becoming Tiny, and Fantasy Faire Extended

It took me over a week of all my nights and free time trying to put together a good petite fairy avatar to show you I have wings for them and Dinkies too! Some of that time was unfortunately also spent dealing with an infringement of my Teasel Fairy Wings from a prominent Dinkie creator at Fantasy Faire. Read on for more.

Petites aren’t as common on the grid these days, and creators like Yabusaka, who also made the bodies for the Fallen Gods petite avatars, seem to have disappeared along with some of the brands that made clothing for them. That made it tougher to put together a cute look for them, but Dinkies and outfits for them are everywhere!
I got myself a pink cat body and easily found this ridiculously adorable ‘Watermelly’ outfit from Micachan Store ( http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Melloona/43/232/64 ) to go with my Titania Watermelon ‘Fruit Fairy’ wings at Melloona, where I couldn’t resist taking photos near the watermelon juice pool.
It’s like these wings and that region were made for each other, and I almost ended up with my Fantasy Faire store there.

Since the fair has been extended to midnight on the 13th, you still have today and tomorrow to shop! If you’d like to try my fairy wings, here’s my Fantasy Faire LM:

Back to my quest to create a cute petite fairy avatar.

I decided on the Yabusaka 3 Petite female body, which comes ‘Omega ready’, an ancient (sort of) applier method of putting on skins and system clothing that was in use before all the bodies started using BOM and providing their own appliers for creators to use.
There’s actually a Universal BOM Converter that works with Omega Ready bodies so that we can use BOM skins and system clothes on bodies like the Yabusaka petite, so I got that as well as an eye alpha which didn’t come with the Yabusaka body. If everything looks fine except you have huge bug eyes, you need to wear that eye alpha.

It took me a minute to figure out how to use the appliers and BOM converter since there wasn’t much instruction in either one, but what I figured out is you wear / ‘add’ both the Skin Applier (or whatever layer you need to add to) and BOM Converter to your HUD, and click on both.
If your body is all red, that probably means you need to remove the body alpha.

For the head, you’ll need to use a system skin that includes it and uses the old SL UV map or it will look wrong & upside down, so all those EVOX head skins won’t work.
But some of those ancient system skins will, as will the head skins for Genus or any head skin that uses the original SL UV map.

You don’t need the clothing layer mesh that comes with the Yabusaka body for putting on skins or makeup, but you do if you want to add system / BOM tattoo layers or clothes with the clothing applier. For that, it seems you need to wear the clothing & makeup HUD that comes with the body, and to click on all the layer buttons so the BOM layers show.
Some clothing layers get wonky in certain body areas like the hips, so there’s no guarantee they’ll all work flawlessly but it sure gives us a lot more options for customizing a Petite fairy avie!

Bare Rose still sells some clothing for Petites, although for some strange reason their perms are no copy, and WishBox still has some nice Petites items that do have copy permissions. Wasabi Pills on Marketplace has some longer styles from some years ago, and newer short styles that are unrigged & resizeable.
I may come back with a list or new post with more sources for shopping when I have more time. Let me know if you’d like that.

Discovery of my Teasel Fairy Wings infringed

Unfortunately, the reduction in available items for petites was not the only issue delaying my progress.
After a kind soul showed me the newer Ruth petite body & head by Jinx early on, and gave me some suggestions for creators making clothes for them such as Isaura Simons, I went shopping.
I was having trouble getting the Jinx head to look right so I’m glad I got it for only $50L at faire & the body was free there which is also nice because there are so few brands making outfits for them. There are enough differences between that one and the Yabusaka 3 Petite bodies that most of the older petite outfits I found didn’t fit the Ruth body right.

Then, after finding the Jinx Facebook group & asking where I could find more outfits & hair for petites, I was invited to the Petites Discord where I was told I may find some of that info.

That’s when I saw the infringement of my Teasel wings. Right there in the shopping channel, someone posted a video of Isaura’s Petite Goth Fairy outfit which made it easier to see the details and that my photo of my real life Teasel fairy wings was used as the texture.

side by side images showing a purple wing next to the real life photo that was used as the texture for it

Since the infringement was right there in the channel, I responded to that post and commented that it’s infringing my Teasel fairy wings & provided links to my real life image that was used as well as to my Second Life wings of that design.
I even made clear that it probably wasn’t intentional & that Isaura may have come across it via a 3rd party who stole it from me.
Here’s the link to my old Wordpress blog where I posted this particular photo in 2008:
https://fancyfairy.wordpress.com/2008/03/02/new-pair-of-teasel-wings-for-sale-and-a-peak-at-the-rl-azarelle-dress/

I was met with a sort of hostile response from Julala, who said “They don’t look anything like your wings - what are you on about?”, and then told me to file a DMCA & not deal with it through that server.
Screenshots of that entire conversation below.

I responded that I was disappointed in that response, asked if they were really okay with people’s work being used without permission and tried explaining that I mentioned it since there are no rules about discussing infringement in that server & requested it be added to the Rules.

Julala’s response included her saying that the rules say ‘not to be an asshat’ and that I can interpret that how I want, inviting me to leave the group if it was too vague for me.
Isaura was not even in that group when I checked. I further explained I’m autistic & how helpful clear guidelines are, etc.
Cinny Fluffington then stepped in to also deny that the wings had any similarity at all, said all wings look similar and that ‘that’s not how copyright works’.

They complained about me causing ‘drama’, yet either one could have simply told me to message the admin privately or not to post about infringement in that channel & left it at that, rather than belittle me and my copyright in my work, which is what actually created the drama they say they don’t want.

All screenshots are above so you can read exactly what happened for yourself without bias from me.

I do think it’s unfortunate that in some circles in SL, pointing out copyright infringement is treated as a worse violation than infringement itself. This is not the first time I’ve encountered this attitude even when it’s very obvious, and so far it’s historically been employed when the infringer is someone they’re either friends with or profit from in some way, so they don’t have any incentive to do the right thing or criticize their creator friend if their policy is to stay loyal regardless of bad behavior.

I left that group and blocked those 2 creators plus a 3rd that was reacting with hearts on the insulting comments, because after a couple decades of having my IP stolen & met with vitriol I don’t want any contact with those who excuse or exhibit that behavior.
I realize Julala is more established and has a larger presence than I do in SL, being the developer of Herb & Fable and responsible for one of the Fantasy Faire regions, that Cinny is also tightly connected, and that’s precisely why I felt I should get the facts straight before a twisted version of them gets spread around behind the scenes to hurt my reputation.
Been there before, and I’d like to avoid it.

I had no animosity towards Isaura and hoped I’d eventually get a response that included an apology and how it was an innocent mistake.

But then, after Fantasy Faire removed the 2 infringing vendors on Saturday, I finally got a notecard from Isaura. Here it is, along with my responses below.

She’s refusing to cooperate or continue conversing with me, insisting that it’s all her creation when my photo is there in her texture plain as day to anyone who has an artist’s eye. Maybe even those who don’t.

She also put the vendors back up. She seemed to not know that Fantasy Faire had already removed them at the time of her initial notecard.

I reported the updates to the Fantasy Faire team that day, and as of last night the vendors were removed again. As far as who removed them, I’m not really sure. The person most in charge has not responded to me yet since my last message but 2 others on the team said it was not them.
I did report it to Linden Labs so it’s possible they removed it without updating me via email yet, but it’s also possible Isaura had a change of heart.

I blocked her after she told me she didn’t want to communicate with me anymore, but my website has a contact form for email that is still open to any of these people to use should they decide to reach out. Perhaps they were in a more emotional state at the time and could later see more clearly what the problem was.

Those are all my relevant receipts of the situation. If anyone has questions or needs more details, let me know as I’m happy to give it. I’m not hiding anything.

Copyright registration just got a lot more affordable for 2D artists

Tomorrow, artists will be able to register up to 20 PUBLISHED 2D works in one application!

Email screenshot from Copyright.gov announcing that 2D artwork can be registered in a group of up to 20 different works on a single registration, starting February 17, 2026

Attention all artists!
After February 17 2026, we can now register up to 20 different 2D works - designs, drawings, paintings and other 2D pieces - in one single application with the US Copyright Office!
Currently, we've only been able to register a group of up to 10 pieces of 2D art only if they haven't been published anywhere. This is why I haven't been showing my new wing designs until I've finished and registered a whole group of them. That's still the best protection but it's nice to have another option.
The only other type that can be registered after publication as a group are photos, more than 700 at a time IIRC as long as they were all published the same year.
Or the images have to be a part of a collection such as an art book or pack of clip art that includes all of them for the first time if I remember correctly.

This is a big deal y'all.
Artists who produce a lot of different works in a year often would neglect to register anything due to expense or only pick a few popular pieces, as it doesn't always make sense to hold back on showing or selling a piece until you have a bunch of them. Especially in the age of social media where people expect us to share WIPs, where we need to quickly keep creating new things to keep income flowing & work even harder to be seen over all the AI content out there saturating the market.

While it's true that you own the copyright of a work as soon as you make it (as long as it meets the requirements of a protectable work), if someone infringes on your copyright by distributing or selling your work without consent you HAVE TO have a valid copyright registration certificate in order to fight it legally.
Whether you're filing a legal claim with the Copyright Claims Board, which only requires that you've at least submitted your application for registration and it's only roughly $100 to file with no attorney required, or in federal court which requires you to not only have applied but to also have it approved with the certificate in hand, registration is a requirement if you want to get any money out of the infringing party.

You don't need to be wealthy to enforce your copyright.
Now you may be thinking you can't afford a federal lawsuit, which is where you'd get the most damages awarded, but some attorneys take cases on contingency IF you've properly registered and have a strong case against a defendant they think will be able to pay. That means, you don't pay them but if you win or get a settlement, they take a percentage of that money.
Sometimes attorneys will offer a settlement negotiation first to the offending party, but that only works if you have a strong case and have registered your work because they may ignore you without a valid threat of being sued.

The cost of registration could be expensive however, starting at $45 for a single work by a single author / artist. You can see how the cost could be a barrier for a low income artist especially one creating many works within a year, and why I think this is something to celebrate.
I don't know yet how much it will cost for the group registration of published 2D works, but the cost for an un-published group is $85 so I expect an amount close to that.
It's well worth it, if at the end of the year you have at least 20 pieces you want to protect but haven't registered yet.

I believe we should be able to now register old works this way that we couldn't afford to register before, although keep in mind that since courts consider registrations done within 5 years of publication to be 'prima facie' and the registration won't be questioned, it's important to do it as soon as you're able.
That doesn't mean you can't register or can't litigate works registered after that point, but you may need to provide more evidence of ownership in that case.

Now I should state that I'm not an attorney, and this does not constitute official legal advice.
However, I've had quite a bit of experience dealing with copycats, settlements, CCB claims and even a couple federal court cases and there are things I wish I knew years ago, so I'd like to share what I can to help other artists.

If you've been as unlucky as me to have your work infringed en masse by a LOT of different overseas sellers, you'll want to subscribe to my Patreon for my posts about that. Some of that info may be paywalled for good reasons I can’t go into detail about yet, but please feel free to reach out if you are experiencing that yourself as I may be able to give you some helpful info and legal referrals.

I'll end with this:
If it weren't for registering my work and being able to get what I'm owed from infringing parties, I might have had to shut down Fancy Fairy last year or at least get a part time 'real job' like so many other artists have recently been forced to. Increased art theft had already made things really hard, and Trump's BS only made everything that much harder making this one of my worst winters for sales that I can remember.

Any artist being infringed should get their payback, and this rule change will make that easier! Share this info with your artist friends, and let's keep artists in business.

Group Registration for Two-Dimensional Artwork Final Rule

NewsNet 1078
December 19, 2025

The U.S. Copyright Office has created a new group registration option known as Group Registration for Two-Dimensional Artwork, or GR2D, to allow artists to register a group of published two-dimensional artworks by submitting a deposit comprising one complete digital copy of each work within the group. The final rule expands the registration options currently available to artists and permits the registration of multiple works with a single application and one filing fee.

The final rule also announces a new online registration application for this group option. The proposed rule would have allowed applicants to register up to ten works published within a thirty-day period. Based on commenters’ input and to facilitate broader participation in the registration system, the final rule permits applicants to register up to twenty works, where all works within the group were first published within the same calendar year.

The final rule takes effect on February 17, 2026, to coincide with the expected completion of related system development and educational resources. The Office will issue an additional public announcement when this option is available to applicants. For more information, please visit the Copyright Office website

Fancy Fairy Second Life News

I’ve got a new gift at the SL Shop & Hop, and news about a copycat that doubled down at the We <3 Roleplay event

Second Life photo of a slender pale female avatar wearing a purple & black corset, skirt and tattered fairy wings

I didn’t get accepted for my own booth for the Second Life Shop & Hop sales event happening in world, so I’m sharing space with my good friend Siyu Suen of Illusions, who makes the jewelry and ears I’m wearing here. At the front counter you’ll find a couple gift boxes, the round hat box contains the tattered Teasel Unseelie fairy wings you see here. These are solid rather than transparent so no alpha glitch, and this version features lots of holes & tatters.

I’m also wearing a brand new mesh corset loosely based on historical stays that was made for me by a pro based on my sketches, and an optional skirt. I’m still working on texturing as well as on the Titania 3.0 wings so it’s not out yet, but keep an eye out for it soon!

Fairyzette Sahara strikes again

Side-by-side images showing my real life Acorn wings on the left and the infringing SL copy on the right

I’ve posted in my blog about this creator a few months ago already as she’d copied several of my designs, so I was shocked to find she’d gone and released one of them again with minimal changes at the October We <3 Roleplay event.
Below is the PrimFeed posts advertising the costume pack containing the wings, which has now been removed.

One of the big reasons I’m sharing details here is because of the way the situation was handled by the event owners / organizers, and my previous experiences with people who engaged in some form of slander / libel against me in retaliation for expecting them to follow their own rules they claim to enforce.

I didn’t have high confidence that this would be dealt with quickly due to my previous interactions with one of the owners, who admitted to ignoring my message to her about a different infringer because they weren’t selling the thing at her event specifically.
The only reason I did let her know, is because their rules seem to say that those who copy others’ work are not considered for their events, period, and a friend urged me to let them know, assuming they cared about copyright as much as we do.
After not hearing back from her for a couple weeks, my friend made a group chat with me and Voshie, the event owner, thinking she must have been really busy and missed the message.
Her response was “Hey there, I actually have received your message, however I chose not to respond as I feel like this is not WLRP's concern as it was never at our event.”

Considering her lack of concern, I didn’t have a lot of faith I’d get a response for this infringing creator either but I messaged her on Sept. 30th with screenshots of the prior DMCA removals & all my evidence, and sent the co-owner a message in world along with a notecard. I sent Voshie a notecard too, stating the facts of the matter.
I didn’t hear from anyone until late on Oct 1, when the co-owner asked me to send evidence of the DMCA because she ‘isn’t a fan of hear-say’, so I let her know I already sent all that to Voshie on Discord, but that I’d see if there’s anything else I can add.

The messages and notecards screenshots are below, nothing exciting there but if a rumor gets spread that I ‘pressured’ them or did anything else beyond what any copyright holder would do, I want the actual evidence all in one place showing my actual - and fairly polite at that - messages.

She at least had responded, although the “I’m not a fan of hear-say’ felt a bit like an accusation after already being brushed off by Voshie. I gave her the benefit of the doubt tho that maybe she didn’t mean it that way.
I sent Voshie extra screenshots and info, none of it necessary to see that Fairyzette was a repeat infringer as I’d already sent sufficient proof of that. See for yourself below.

And at the end of the day on the 3rd, which was already open to bloggers, and the night before opening day, I asked Arséne if this was still being addressed. She said they were still setting up and it would take some time. I still had hoped that they would take care of it before the event opened and sales started, but that didn’t happen. (screenshot of whole chat log at the bottom)
Her booth was up & ready for business.

Because it seemed the event owners / organizers were not giving this issue the urgency it deserved, I opened the group chat - and saw OTHER complaints of infringement. I learned Neon Sheep was accused of selling copybotted items. Their stall is also gone now, maybe that was a valid claim?
So I mentioned my own copycat issue without even mentioning her name yet, and nearly instantly got chastised for it and locked out of the chat.

Chat lag for We <3 Role-Play showing my comments on infringement and being locked out of the chat

Honestly, that wasn’t surprising, but the final response kinda was. I was still holding out hope that they’d make up somehow for taking so long to take care of this or at least have a better explanation why, and in the middle of the night after a full day of possible sales I got a message saying:
”Set up is done & also I do not appreciate that you are pressuring us about this that much. Thats said: We removed her since you provided us with the DMCA & we are hoping this matter will resolve itself for you. Best of luck!”

Screenshot of chat with Arséne

That was the extent of our communications, the screenshots can speak for themselves.
Should ‘we’re setting up’ still be an acceptable excuse by the time the event opens, sales start, and they could be liable as participants in contributory or vicarious infringement?
Genuinely, I’m curious if this kind of delay is standard in SL for sales events or not, as my only other experience was an organizer who removed the content very quickly and without snark.

The empty space where Fairyzette’s Les Sucreries De Fairy store sat, removed for copyright infringement

At least they did remove her booth, and I appreciate that they finally did what they were legally obligated to do.
I understand I may face backlash or exclusion for speaking out, but letting the public know what actually happened so misinformation doesn’t spread is important to me. I’d rather have the facts laid out here for all our sakes before a twisted version of events ends up on a site like the Virtual Burn Book.

I want honest customers who support artist rights to know when they may be unwittingly buying stolen IP based on my work, I know I would want to be informed.

Absinthe & Arsenic, Goblin Style

These toxically gorgeous wings drop on Monday, October 6 at 8pm PDT!

Iridescent green, blue and black fairy wings with antennae and small appendages sticking out from the tips, worn on a dress form, front view

Happy weekend fairies!

I've got this set of Goblin Princess fairy wings done in a variation of the Rollerbird painting that follows the Absinthe & Arsenic colorway I've dabbled in before, but this time I used the Opal iridescent film rather than the clear Diamond Fire for cooler toned greens with touches of blue.
They will be $489 plus shipping, and will be listing Monday night, Oct. 6 at 8pm PDT.

I hope to also have another set of wings if I can squeeze them in there but this might be the only set this week..

The listings will show up here at the start time:
https://fancy-fairy-wings-things.myshopify.com/collections/flash-sales

In my Second Life news, I was shocked to find out that one of the creators, Fairyzette Sahara of Les Sucreries De Fairy, who I reported for 3 different wing infringements early this year has actually doubled down and released one of them AGAIN with a few insignificant changes.

A side by side comparison showing my Acorn fairy wings on the left and the infringing copy by Fairyzette Sahara on the right

The sales event they were being sold at opened to the public yesterday, and after 4 days since I sent all the proof of ownership to the organizers the stolen content remained up until 1am this morning or so I’m told. Haven’t had a chance to check on it and there are RL things to take care of right now, so if there are any further updates I’ll make them here later.
Mentioning it in the event’s group chat yesterday since the organizers had still not acted, got me chastised for commenting and I was locked out of the chat, which is no surprise at this point. I've been learning that a lot of these events put language against copyright infringement in their rules but often don't actually care to enforce them or make them a lower priority than they should be :/
More on that on my PrimFeed account, which is a social media site for SL users:

I might have more updates on this eventually.

A Positive Update

I’m happy to provide this update:

Angela Jarman (myself) and Hey Ricochet were recently involved in a copyright infringement matter. We are pleased to share that the issue has been amicably resolved to the satisfaction of both sides. The parties agree that they took no intentional steps to harm each other. We appreciate the opportunity to address the matter constructively and are happy to move forward.

The Return of Fancy Fairy Wings in Second Life™

*There’s an update to one of the infringement stories further below about Fairyzette Sahara, who released one of the aready reported designs yet again, further down this page.

It’s been over 5 months that I’ve been quietly working nights & weekends to learn Blender and make proper mesh animated fairy wings in Second Life, and they are now complete!
Below is a quick peek at them in one of the colors (from the gender queer flag) from the Pride edition.

They aren’t ‘my’ flag colors - those would be the demi / ace, but this matched my Magnolia dress from Caverna Obscura too perfectly!
The Pride flag inspired pack of Iridescent Teasel 3.0 Bento Fairy Wings is now available, exclusively at the Androgyny Event at an introductory price through July 28!

25% of each sale of these is automatically donated to Second Pride & the It Gets Better non profit.

http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Calico%20Bay/165/58/2504

Here’s the product photo for ya

The essentials pack is also available there, as well as at my in world store and Marketplace. They cost 50L less in world, and current pricing of $350L is a lower introductory price.
Find them at the MP here:

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Teasel-30-Iridescent-Bento-Fairy-Wings/27294913

Here’s the vendor image for them:

Image showing a female fairy with back turned towards us, her hands over her head & wings of light blue, magenta & white take up most of the image space. Text says 'Essentials Pack'

These are 100% original mesh and design. You may have seen this design on the grid (and a whole lotta places online) from people who've copied them in various forms without my permission, but I created this design way back in 2008 for SL and RL.

I made wings, clothes and skins back then before I dipped out for years due to outdated hardware & life struggles.

In 2017 I made some wings that used the bento bones and animations I made in Blender, but the wings themselves were flexi prims because I was so attached to the way flexi prims move in SL. But now I’m calling them ‘franken-flexi’ because of the issues that crop up with them - they required specific body heights & didn’t work for all avatars, and the big square prims would have a lot of alpha glitch with other partially transparent items, which was way more noticeable when a whole square area is glitching.

This time, I worked my fairy butt off nights and weekends learning how to make a proper mesh in Blender and made my own wing rig that allowed me to animate the upper and lower wing panels separately. Something I wish was possible in real life!
I also had help from an old SL friend, Siyu Suen of Illusions to get me up to speed on Blender and other things I needed to know about SL along with a lot of encouragement. I don’t know if I could’ve done it without her!

Here’s video of the animation HUD that’s included with the wings so you have a lot of control over what they’re doing:

My designs have often been copied without permission in SL

Many of my designs have been copied in Second Life, some ripped right from my SL wings and others used my RL wing photos as their designs & textures. Some made their own mesh but still copied the design itself rather than come up with something on their own.
This Teasel design was copied vein for vein a few years ago & became a best seller, by Aenea Christensen, who admitted to copying them but was still terrible about it all, and has been lying about me and the situation. Now on the changed version they state that their previous edition was ‘removed due to a malicious DMCA report’.
That’s pretty laughable seeing as how they’d already admitted to copying mine, specifically the veins, which is literally the core of the design. I had left comments in response to the claim that it was ‘malicious’ as I was upset they were lying about the situation, and this below was their response.

These days I wouldn’t bother to interact at all with an infringer’s content this way, and give the facts if necessary in my own space instead such as my own blog. Maybe I shouldn’t have left a review at all, I can acknowledge that. But it’s still upsetting to think someone is out there lying about my business & possibly harming sales when they were the ones to do something illegal.
Their links to wings they claim are the same were literally nothing at all like my Teasel design, but I’m sure they tell people I copied a nature design to deflect. They may be generally similar to fly wings, but there’s no duplicate of these in nature.
I’m also SO tired of the argument “you can’t copyright fairy wings” as if I’m trying to claim ownership of every single fairy wing out there, which I’m absolutely not. It’s a strawman argument I get all the time when people have no other good excuse.
I know, there’s the whole ‘you shouldn’t care what other people say about you’ but when it comes to someone’s reputation as a creator selling their art, especially when they’re just returning to the market & having to compete with people selling copies, I’d say it does matter.

Brands who’ve copied multiple wing designs

My Colette wing design was even offered as full perm in SL by Les Sucreries De Fairy, with only the inner veins changed a bit, but the unique outer profile was fairly exact. That shape is specific. They were also selling wings that copied pretty exactly the outer shape of my Fauna wings, and exact copies of my Acorn wings, and some that copied a lot of the outer shape of my Nimue wings. I sold the Nimue wing in SL, they might still be in my in world shop, and the others are all newer wings whose photos are always watermarked by me whenever posted anywhere online. You can see them for yourself if you click on the design names.
So the fact that they were selling that many copies of my wings is not cool. I reached out after reporting a couple of them and asked her to remove the remaining ones & not to copy mine or anyone else’s wings again. Although she did remove the remaining wings I never got a reply or an explanation at all.
This was the notecard I sent her in April, it mentions the Elida wings being removed already (the Acorn fairy wings copy was in that costume pack) but there must have been more of them or she did not delete them completely from her MP because LL sent me confirmation of removal.

The lack of an explanation or apology and the number of designs they copied, one of them full perm plus the size of their store and prevalence in many in world market events, warrant mentioning IMO. If I bought a stolen design I’d want to know myself.
Their latest wings look like they could be using someone’s photo as a texture but I don’t know that for sure, so take that with a grain of salt. If anyone sees more copies of additional designs please let me know. Below are screenshots of the copies except for the Nimue, which I didn’t grab screenshots of in time. They might still be in her Flickr somewhere, the texture inside was like a bright mozaic.

Update Oct. 7 2025, Fairyzette made the bad decision to make a few small changes to the copy of the Acorn Fairy Wings and released them AGAIN for the We <3 Role Play October event. I’ve fully documented everything that went down here.

I've also recently discovered my Pansy, licensed Amy Brown Bubble Rider, Bee fairy, and Nimue wings sold by Cherry Evergarden of Enchanted Delights & had them all removed via DMCA. As you can see, she used my actual photos and in the case of the Nimue wings she even used my texture from the SL wings I sold. These screenshots will show today’s date in the metadata because I originally took a PDF screenshot of the listings as it captured the entire page that way, but that won’t work for posting to this blog. I never heard from them, they simply relisted the costumes with different wing designs.

I also found my photos of my Painted Small Lizette wings copied & used as a wing texture sold by Faunus, and they used my Fly fairy wings photo for wings in an event hunt.
This was really disappointing, as I had admired their work and they’re a pretty well known brand for fantasy costuming & accessories in SL for fairies. I took a chance & reached out to them on Facebook to ask for removal since the hunt item would be tough to report. They replied and apologized, and they did remove the items.
Then they asked if I’d let them continue selling them & give me a percentage of sales. I politely declined, and after they acknowledged that, they blocked me. I appreciate that they did remove the content and apologized, but why on earth did they block me? That soured things when we could have possibly carried on as professional acquaintances & I was even planning on buying some of their outfits had they left things at the apology without blocking.
But not now. That’s a deal breaker for me, being blocked after getting caught infringing is always a bad sign leaves no room for trust. I don’t think I said anything that warranted that. Receipts below.

All these infringements may cause confusion to the customer who will question which one is the original, especially if the infringer sweeps it under the rug without notifying their audience of their removal. There are only a couple instances where they more than made up for things & even paid me without me asking, so all is forgiven and I won’t ever need to mention them.
I’ve never received a penny from any of the rest, most never bother with an apology either.

I am a staunch supporter of copyright, and creating something brand new is the fun part for me, so you won't find purchased stock photos or art in my wing work. I also don't enjoy using designs straight from nature as much as I do creating a fantasy design, so wearing my wings means you won't have the same stock designs that many other creators offer.

I may dabble in drastically re-texturing & styling full perm mesh clothing for fairies to go with my wings while I'm still working on my mesh skills, since making fitted mesh clothes from scratch seems like some kind of torture I can't wrap my brain around yet, but I'd have to be sure they're reputable & will state who the mesh is from if that happens.

I hope to populate my store in the coming months with more new wings, to bring all the fairies back to SL.

Rhinestones & Copycats

Another day, another infringement. Well, several of them actually. It really is never-ending y'all.

Often when I catch people using my photos of this design or copying it, they argue how "I see that design everywhere, it's been around forever!" , or "it's all over Pinterest" as if that makes it okay, and my favorite, "you don't own all fairy wings!"
But you see, it's 'been around forever' because I made it that long ago and it was popular enough to go viral, but almost always without credit to me.

Rhinestone iron-on from Heat Transfer Warehouse
There's another company that's been profiting off of my Teasel fairy wing design for a few years now.
I discovered that Heat Transfer Warehouse had been selling a rhinestone iron-on of my Teasel fairy wings design. Now, I'd been running into these rhinestone copies for a while now and every once in a while had to report them. Maybe this was the source?
I first sent a Cease & Desist letter on July 30th, which they ignored completely.

So I went ahead and reported the listing to their host, Big Cartel, who sent them a warning that it would be removed if they don't remove it themselves. They fortunately did remove it, but, I may go ahead and file a CCB claim because they've been making a profit off of my design and, continued to sell it after I sent the C&D. I think I should be getting at least a portion of those sales, they should have licensed the design from me if they wanted to use it.
Here's the rhinestone design with the actual photo of my Teasel wings that it looks like it was traced from overlayed on top with a transparency adjustment.

This matches far too well to be a coincidence IMO. Even the wing in the foreground appears to be traced. Some changes were made to the bottom panels, which are simply copies of the upper panels in my original design, so again this is still substantially similar and a derivative.

I took a screenshot of the page while it was active, and according to the Internet Archive that page has been active since Sept. 2020. How many have been sold? How much should I have been paid in royalties?

Since they removed the page themselves, they didn't end up with that embarrassing 'page not found' situation.

Copycat wing makers on Etsy from Ukraine
These next copycats have been more frustrating to deal with. Even though Etsy took them down when I reported them, one of them filed a counter notice, but since they're in Ukraine I can't sue and I can't even file a Misrepresentation Claim with the CCB because they only deal with entities in the US.

On July 16 I found 3 wing listings on Etsy that were copies of my Kira wings design by seller ReddoStore. Here's a screenshot of the listing for the purple wings:

They were selling these in a few colors.  The design doesn't even really have any changes, it's absolutely copied. Here's a photo of me with those wings edited in - I made the overlays from photos of the actual wings.

Near the end of August I discovered those same exact wings, but from a different seller who was also in Ukraine, OlenaOlenaStore.

Same back brace & everything! I reported those too, and Etsy took them down. So far, no counter notice, but that doesn't mean they won't send one eventually. Unlike the time limit copyright owners have to send the service provider a court order to prevent the posts from going back up after the counter notice is sent, they don't have a time limit so they could very well send one at any time.

I don't think that's a fair system, that I have to show them proof of my design, but all the infringers have to do is sign a notice saying they have good faith belief that they didn't infringe.

I've had a lot of trouble with wing makers in Ukraine for some reason, these two aren't the only ones!

I've had to report infringements from this account, who still has posts up that copy my Kira design but Instagram won't remove the posts. Here she's using mini Kira wing copies without the veins to put onto a crown: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cuq-6O3ow-I/

And advertising it on Etsy: https://www.instagram.com/p/CuxS3P4IZ2v/

Another thing I noticed is they have the same back brace as ReddoStore & OlenaOlenaStore, you have to look closely at their photos because the butterfly is being worn on the inside against their backs so it's not as immediately noticeable.

Here's a better pic, you can see the butterfly behind the wings here

I'm not sure if there's someone selling the back braces or if they're all buying wings pre-made and reselling, but it sure seems like reselling if 2 different unrelated sellers are selling the exact same product and that breaks Etsy's rules! I tried telling them this, but they don't seem to care. I tried reporting them for violating Etsy's rule about reselling pre-made products but nothing has changed.

I've even had to report TheWingsUA (their Instagram handle), aka WingsAndFlowerDesign on Etsy, for making wings using my Titania wings photo.

That particular photo got used a LOT, and has also been made into temporary tattoos, all without permission or any money paid to me of course. Below is the original photo of mine that this version came from.

She's unfortunately not in the US either, I forget now where she resides but I couldn't really do anything except report her posts.

But this WingsAndFlowerDesign company has been getting really popular with Americans because they're priced so cheap. Some of their designs are really pretty but... are they really their designs or are they stolen too?
Some seem like they might be made with AI, which, I'd rather have them do that than copy my photos or designs. But there's other wings in their shop that look very familiar to me, designs that have been around elsewhere and they may be using images or clip art they find online. And if most of what I see from someone is either copied from another artist, a nature design, or AI, that tells me they are lacking in design skills so they have to use designs that are already made.
They also seem very similar to the CrystalWingsUA Etsy store.

Thankfully they at least didn't send a counter notice... not yet anyway.

But another thing I never got from any of these companies?
An apology. An "I'm so sorry I used your design".

There are many many more overseas copies than I can fit in here, but I'm working on getting them removed somehow.
In a couple weeks I have a virtual meeting with Senior Counsel for Enforcement from the Office of Policy and International Affairs at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to discuss the copyright issues that myself and so many other artists & designers are struggling with, especially with foreign sellers!

I'm not sure what will come of this, if it will lead to any actual changes, but I will update you here if it does!
