'Electric Rainbow' Painted Aynia Fairy Wings Listing August 2 at 9pm Pacific!

Trying hard to keep my momentum and have more frequent sales, so there will be another very small sale tomorrow, Monday August 2 at 9pm Pacific time with these painted Aynia wings ($500), and a set of unpainted Collette wings ($520)

Now, previously I've assigned donations from rainbow wings to one of the 2SLGBTQ non-profits, however I have been slacking on donations for disability rights organisations so this sale will be set to default to the Autistic Women & Nonbinary Network.

The newer and more preferred symbol for ASD is an infinity symbol, and it also uses the rainbow to signify the spectrum. Since I missed the chance to do this during July, which was Disability Month, I'm going to keep this as the default for a bit but you can still choose from one of the other 5 causes at checkout if you like.

Some of you may be familiar with my struggle to get evaluated for ASD myself, which seems impossible for me as an adult in the Kaiser health insurance system where they simply don't evaluate you if you're not a child.

I am neurodivergent, diagnosed with ADD finally in my 30's, which increases the odds that I might be on the spectrum as well and now have a very young family member about to have their own evaluation after also being diagnosed with ADD. I've also been learning more over the last few years just how many overlapping traits there are between the two, and whether or not I ever get a diagnosis of ASD I'll always feel connected to that community because of the many shared traits and experiences.

AWN Network provides resources to the Autistic as well as the general neurodivergent & disability community, focused on femmes and Nonbinary people and POC, as these are the groups that so often go undiagnosed due to the focus of the bulk of research having studied mostly boys & men. The thinking used to be that boys were much more likely to have either ADHD or ASD, but now we are learning that it's not always expressed the same way as it's been observed in cishet boys.

I would have loved to be able to have these resources as a child when I was growing up. Like many ND kids I was bullied in school - for my social awkwardness, for hardly talking, for having my head in the clouds as well as for my slow motor reflexes, naivety, etc. I felt so much shame around it that I didn't even tell my parents at the time. I don't want to see any kid -or adult - go through abuse because of their differences. Support can mean the world especially when you're that young and feeling so powerless.

Thank you all for sticking around, and you won't want to miss the updates coming for the flapping fairy wings project coming soon that I’ll be posting on Patreon!
